The score is a good one, but Im not happy.
I was certain after stranding 13, leaving the bases loaded twice and letting Al Lieter off the hook that we were gonna cough up this lead. It seemed as I drove home from work that we were cradling that one run like an egg on a spoon. Any minute the Yanks would touch us for a couple runs...another beautiful start wasted.
Instead, Our Beloved Twins beat up the Yank relief corps for six more runs. Nathan almost blew the lead in the 8th but thankfully the umpires got a foul ball call right when Williams almost went yard but...not quite.
Im not happy for selfish reasons, it seemed that the Yankees were trying to hand us this one and we couldnt get it together. Poor hitting WHIP again. Example:
Justing Morneau comes to bat with runners on first and second. Stewart at 2nd and Boone just coaxed a walk from a pitcher who was salvaged off the scrap heap not too long ago. This pitcher has walked 5 batters in the game. This pitcher is throwing his ninety-somethingth pitch. What does Morneau do? He goes Jack Kavorkian on the rally and hits into a DP by swinging at the VERY FIRST PITCH OFFERED!!!
I know, he had a HR and a double tonight. His bat has woken up a tad bit in the last two series. But really, doesnt anyone like Scott Ulger, or Gardie, or the other players or Justins dad say before he gets to the plate "maybe take one." I mean unless its a mistake pitch left up he should at least THINK about taking one right? Am I crazy?
Well, it wasnt the only hitting gaff by far. And I dont mean to single him out. It was a frusterating first 5 to say the least.
More will have to be said someday about my disdain for the yanks which deserves its own entry and Im sure on a slow day it will happen. Also keep your eyes peeled for my entry to be titled :
"Deity All-Star Team."
Again, its a good score and Im glad to get the "W". Still not happy.
