Drawing Dead...
I admitt it, I'm so happy I could pee myself. I worked for 16 hours yesterday. The crowning moment of my day was sitting in the tub listening to the Twins go 16 innings to beat the White Sox. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel good about winning a series against the hated BitchSox.
But my joy paled in comparison to what I saw on blogs and message boards today. Even a certain talk radio duo (Whose names rhyme with P.A and Dubay) were over the top optimistic. I would like us all to take a moment to breathe and relax for a moment. (Sigh) Let's not hand the Twins the Wild Card spot just yet.
With Our Beloved Twins just 5 games back and 6 weeks of ball left there is room for optimisim. With teams like NY, Oakland and Cleveland ahead of us, it's going to be tough. It's sorta like when you stupidly call some ones all in with A-K and he A-A. Maybe better yet, it's like drawing against a full house. Right now, for the Twins to see October baseball they need to go runner runner and hit the straight flush.
I have to ponder to myself if we aren't better off playing for next year anyway. If we suddenly are 3 games back or less, does that mean Gardy continues to go with guys like Castro and Mays? What will it do to September call ups? Will Lariano and Baker get some spot starts? I dunno. I guess you have to go for it if your in the thick of it but if yuo loose that was some precious time you lost for the rookies.
Well, it's a short one today as I get ready for another long day. I will be listening to Johan and the boys as they try to hand Chicago a series sweep and a 5th loss in a row. Wish em luck!!!
