Halleluiah, we won a series!
Twins 4 Boston 3
Hot damn I'm giddy. Our Beloved Twins (OBT from now on) with their victory tonight ensure that they will win a series...the first one since before the all-star break. Santana was pulled after just six innings and only 94 pitches. I wondered what Gardy was up to with this move as it seemed very un-Gardenhire. I thought Johan would throw one more inning, maybe try to get him the "W''. But Gardenhire seems to be trying to out-fox himself a little bit this week. He's using the bullpen in tight games and he's playing for the Win finally. He has little choice at this point I guess.
I know he is leading the league still, but I wonder where Johans stike outs have gone. Granted, if this is an off year than its a wonderful offyear to have. Still, I wonder if Johan has something close to the dominance he showed last seasons second half in his future.
A Walk off....bunt?
Yes, the elusive sac bunt walk off. I guess it's important to note that not only did Mueller have to overthrow first base allowing Cuddyer to get to second but also, Mike Timlin had to then also overthrow first base allowing Cuddyer to score from second. It's an extreme example of why teams who can count on being in close games often (like OBT) need to have rock solid defense. But small ball isn't Bostons game and they will recover from this I am sure.
On tap for tomorrow is Mays and his 4.62 ERA vs Wakefield and his 4.23. It might be interisting...knuckleballers tend to do well in domed stadiums. What will be interisting to me is to see which Joe Mays shows up tomorrow. With any luck it'll be "Good Joe," and maybe a series sweep is within reach. We'll see.
Smoking update
None of your damn business.
Have a lovely day and cheer hard tomorrow.
